Mockingjay Part One Trailer - “The Mockingjay Lives”

OH GOD, IT’S FINALLY HERE.

DEEEEEEEEEP BREATHS EVERYBODY!

WHY ARE WE YELLING?!

Well because the first full-length Mockingjay - Part One trailer has finally been released and it looks absolutely insane! A good insane. I seriously had to restrain myself from screaming when Katniss (my idol) Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) started speaking.

Oh, the feels is strong in this one. I’m expecting great things from this film, and the trailer has already set my standards pretty high. We’re all in this together, guys… So somebody hold me. Because this ish is going to be seriously intense.

You’re lying to yourself if you think you didn’t react the exact same way.

President Snow’s Panem Address: ‘Together As One’ | Analysis

President Snow’s address to Panem is our first look at Mockingjay Part I, set to be released on the 21st of November 2014, the PSA-style Capitol TV-spot is all about affecting an air of peace and prosperity while offering (not so) veiled threats to anyone in the districts showing, or even thinking about, dissent towards the Capitol. Holy Propaganda, Batman.

“But if you resist the system, you starve yourself.” This is an interesting approach, the marketing team have taken, in promoting the upcoming first part of the final installment of the phenomenon that is The Hunger Games. In conjunction with the movie posters, ‘sanctioned by the Capitol Ministry of Information’ released earlier, the marketing campaign is naught but propaganda for the fictional dictatorship that gives you the most uneasy feeling. It’s creeptastic, really.
Most importantly, and for readers of Suzanne Collins’ series- more emotionally distressing because of what we know, as the camera pans up we see Peeta, standing beside Snow with a blank expression on his beautiful face. His presence in the spot isn’t a symbol of solidarity, nor is it just to reassure non-reader fans of the films that he’s still alive (well, it’s a little bit of that), it’s a message to Katniss and to the rebellion. We have Peeta, tread lightly.
As President Snow utters the Capitol’s words “Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever,” Peeta finally looks into the camera, however his blank expression remains. It’s a haunting thing to be left with, those who haven’t read the books have no idea what Peeta is thinking.

The vampire mockumentary, written and directed by Waititi and Flight of the Conchords’ Jemaine Clement, follows vampire flatmates Viago (Waititi), Deacon (Jonny Brugh), Vladislav (Clement) and Petyr living in a cruddy Welly flat. It premiered at the Sundance Film Fest where critics raved about it and, if the trailer and subsequent clips are anything to go by, for good reason becayse it looks hilarious. Check out the clips below, the film itself has an NZ release of June 19. Fangtastic.

The Fault In Our Stars’ Extended Trailer Is Beautiful And I DARE You To Try And Tell Me Otherwise

HEY HEY HEY! The extended trailer for The Fault In Our Stars has been released!! I can’t even express how pumped I am for the film. It’s to be released in New Zealand on the 5th of June, so be sure to start booking seats early, because it’s going to be jam packed with Nerdfighters there to see John Green’s words come to life.

This is going to be the best! Like, look at that? Remember when I cried tears of joy reading this? Remember that I’m actually crying right now because it’s just beautiful? Yeah. Remember that!

Is it okay if I cry in advance for the film? I don’t even care, the trailer made me so happy and I feel like I’m on a train, approaching FEELS VILLAGE or something and I’m already hyperventilating, and crying and raging.

This can’t be helped.

Beware for more follow-ups on The Fault In Our Stars.

It’s going to be hella intense.

DFTBA!

The Maze Runner - First Official Trailer

The trailer for the movie adaptation of James Dashner’s The Maze Runner premiered on MTV during an episode of Teen Wolf. What do we think? You know our stance on the series (links to reviews below) however the trailer, especially casting choices and visual effects, has us optimistic. 20th Century Fox are bringing us a killer film, while I don’t like to rely too heavily on the trailers for fear of being let down- the trailer kind of gave us goosebumps!

The effects look great, casting choices were spot on and the whole mystery of the maze is established very well. Who’s ready?

Welcome to the Glade.

The global premiere of The Maze Runner trailer is coming tomorrow during an all new Teen Wolf at 10pm! Until then, bask in this exclusive GIF. You CANNOT miss this.

Watch the final Divergent Trailer

What did you think about the final Divergent trailer? As someone who’s recently read the book I’m rather impressed with how it’s looking. I’m not here to complain about the cast, I think they cast the film adaptation pretty well. Always the first hurddle, in my head. I like Shailene Woodley as Beatrice -Tris- Prior, sure she’s supposed to be a lot blonder but she’s got Beatrice’s fear-to-BAMF face down pat. We’ve got Theo James as Four (he has another name but I’m not sure if it’s spoilery to say it…skip to the next paragraph now if you think it is. His real name, because who would name their kid a number, Tobias.

Hilarious that Miles Teller plays douchebag Peter, because he was her love interest in Spectacular Now, the lovely Zoë Kravitz as the blunt, because she’s from Candor, Christina and another hilarious cast Ansel Elgort as Tris’ brother, Caleb. Yeah, Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars- okay? Yeah a little bit not, just remember to differentiate between movies or it’ll be weird for you. I haven’t seen anything about Will or Al or even Uriah a few other friends she makes in Dauntless.

But Kate Winslet! She has the wonderful job of playing the big bad, scary because she’s so smart that intelligence overrides basic human compassion, Jeanine Matthews. And also, NIKITA!!! I mean, Maggie Q as Tori was a brilliant cast. Brilliant.

The world that the director, Neil Burger, and screenwriters Vanessa Taylor and Evan Daugherty have taken from the books and recreated visually looks like it’s on track. I’m looking forward to the action and the banter and watching Tris move from the stifling Abnegation to the dangerous world of the Dauntless. Mostly I’m keen to see how what I’ve read will translate to audiences on the screen, especially the simulations…and train hopping. I hope people don’t try that at home.
